SEPTEMBER TOUR, DINNER MEETING, & PRESENTATION

   Tour: Water Conservation for Landscaping

Before our  normal CSI meeting, come join member Dave Koons at the Chino Basin Water Conservation District, 4594 San Bernardino St, Montclair, CA 91763 for an informal tour of this amazing free facility dedicated to intelligent water conservation and use.

 

Chino Basin facility http://www.cbwcd.org/There is a water-wise demonstration garden, that provides innovative garden layouts for your home or office using drought tolerant plantings.  Also featured is a fabulous park filled with drought - tolerant trees. One can also sign up for classes on water efficient irrigation techniques for your  home.

Meet at the entrance at 3:45 pm for the free tour.

Dave will be at the facility from 4 to 5 pm.

 

The demonstration garden closes at 5:00 pm.  After the tour we will each drive to the dinner & presentation at the WLC Architects offices, which are about 15 minutes East of the park.

 

Important Note:  The parking lot is Closed and Locked at 6:00 pm.

 

Register separately for the Tour and Dinner.  Attend just the free Tour, just the Dinner Meeting / Presentation, or BOTH. To attend both, register for both.

Presentation: Case Study — Citrus College: Navigating Water Conservation & Sustainability

With California having undergone a very significant drought over the last several years, California’s community college system has implemented several strategies that help in relieving independence on water as well as providing a sustainable improvement to facilities and infrastructure.  This seminar will bring forth insight on community college mandates, facility finance, and infrastructure improvements to Citrus College facilities.

Fred is the Director of Facilities and Construction for Citrus Community College District and has been in the educational facilities industry for over 23 years. Additionally, Fred has been in the architecture, engineering and construction industry for over 30 years. Fred holds certifications through the Construction Specifications Institute and the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council and is the national school committee chair for the American Construction Inspectors Association. Fred serves on the Inland Empire Construction Specifications Institute Board and also serves in various capacities for California’s Coalition for Adequate School Housing.
