CSI Certification History
CSI’s Certification Program was instituted in the late 1970s to provide an avenue to credential specification writers – certification is called Certified Construction Specifier (CCS).
Today, in addition to the CCS, CSI certifications include Certified Construction Product Representative (CCPR) and Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA). These certifications comply with ANSI/ISO 17024, which is an accreditation program for certification bodies such as CSI.
Testing content is developed based on Body of Knowledge Analyses (BoKAs) by a committee made up of subject-matter experts who are members of the Institute. Material is reviewed and updated to incorporate current practices considered fundamental to the construction industry, including sustainability, drawings, BIM, and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).
This year CSI is converting the remaining program called Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) from a certificate into a full certification to align with the other certifications offered. Conversion will assure that all of CSI’s Certification Programs remain at the forefront of the construction industry and comply with ANSI/ISO 17024.
The CDT Certification Program educates the candidate to recognize the roles and responsibilities of team members at every stage of projects, various project delivery methods, and construction documents and management of the flow of information from the earliest stages of a project through punch list and facility management.
It offers the candidate in the building, design, and construction industry the ability to demonstrate competence in the concepts and tools necessary to organize and be a part of project teams. Thousands of interns, architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, manufacturer’s representatives, and other team members have already improved their skills by studying for and passing the exam.
This ten-week preparatory study course can affordably and conveniently be conducted in your own office by participating in a weekly live-webinar series offered by the CSI West Region every Wednesday between 11:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. PDT. The next webinar series begins July 25, 2018 and concludes September 26, 2018 and includes ten 1.5 hour classes, each worth 1.5 HSW AIA credits.
Fee: $1,000.00 per site as Registrant – This allows as many staff members as you want to participate at the same time.
